General Downlight
The beam spread (BSP) diameter from a single recessed fixture is approximately equal to the height (H) of the ceiling. Fixture Spacing for General Downlighting
For proper spacing of fixtures, use the following example: A single unit using a baffle trim and 75 Watt R30 lamp in an 8' ceiling will produce a 6' circle of light. For multiple units, space fixtures 5' apart in an 8' ceiling to achieve relatively uniform lighting. For example, a 15' x 18' room would require a minimum of 12 fixtures.

Wall Wash Lighting
For even illumination when wall washing, the fixture-to-wall distance (D) and fixture-to-fixture spacing (S) must be equal. For wall washing purposes, place fixtures between 18" and 36" from the wall.
