1.	Luxicon operating with Microsoft Vista Contact your IT person prior to installing Luxicon. Manipulating administrative permissions can cause damage to your PC. Microsoft Vista has tightened security as compared to earlier versions of Microsoft Windows products. To run Luxicon, Vista must be setup to run as Administrator. There are two ways to setup and run Luxicon in Vista. Method 1: Once Luxicon has been installed, right click the Luxicon icon located on your desktop, select "Run as administrator". Select Allow and Luxicon will then open and run. Method 2: Access the Control Panel, Programs, Program Features, Use an older program with this version of Windows. Welcome to the Program Compatibility Wizard - Click next Check “I want to Choose a Program from a List” - Click next Select Luxicon 2 - Click next Check “Do not apply compatibility mode” - Click next Do not select any Display Settings - Click next Check “Run this Program as an Administrator” - Click next Test the Compatibility Settings - Click next to launch program A windows security message will display –Click Allow – Run program and license it. Close when you are finished. Check Yes, set this program to use these compatibility settings. Do not send Program Compatibility Data to Microsoft- Click Next Click Finish Luxicon only needs to run as an Administrator for licensing, if you wish to run Luxicon with only standard user privileges after licensing, you can follow the above steps and uncheck the “Run this Program as an Administrator”.

2.	How do I order Luxicon? To order Luxicon, contact your local Cooper Lighting representative. If you do not know who your local representative is go to www.cooperlighting.com , and click on the Where to Purchase link.

3.	What operating systems does Luxicon run on? Luxicon will run on any Windows operating system above Windows 3.1.

4.	How do I properly uninstall Luxicon? To uninstall Luxicon, go to the Start Menu, Settings, Control Panel, and Add/Remove Programs. Highlight LUXICON and click on Remove. In your Windows Explorer, locate and delete the following files: Cooperlt.ini LTECAcro.ini Luxcion2.ini LuxProgGroup.ini

5.	How do I install Luxicon? Make sure all other progams are closed before installing Luxicon. (Microsoft Office Toolbar should be closed as well.) Also, make sure all previous versions of the software have been uninstalled. Go to Start, Run, and type in D:\Setup where D: is the letter of your CD-ROM device. Follow the instructions on the screen for a full or minumum installation.

6.	Can I import a DXF/DWG file into Luxicon? Yes, you can import or export DXF/DWG files into and out of the program. Luxicon 2.3 is compatible through AutoCAD 2000.

7.	Can I import photometric files from other manufacturers? Yes, you can import any fully formatted IES photometric file.

8.	Can I print out a contour or "footprint" for individual fixtures? Yes, you can customize the contour lines to assist you in the layout of a fixture.

9.	What if I receive a "Matrix 4x4" error? Update your video card drivers to include Open GL. Drivers can typically be found on the manufacturer's website. RAGE PRO video card drivers are on the Microsoft Windows CD, however, these do not include the Open GL feature. If you have a Rage Pro video card, go to the manufacturer's website. Download the driver and follow the manufacturer instructions for installation.

10.	I am getting a GL error: unable to set rendering context. How can I fix this? You will need to back down the video accelerator. For Windows 95/98/ME 1. Go to your desktop 2. Right click in a blank area 3. Select properties 4. Select the settings tab 5. Click the advanced button 6. Look through your tabs (tabs may vary according to the video card) for a horizontal slide bar called video accelerator. If the marker is all the way on, reduce it to half (if this does not work, you may need to reduce it all the way to none). Then try to run your program again. For Windows 2000/NT/XP 1. Go to your desktop 2. Double click on My Computer 3. Double click on Control Panel 4. Double click on System 5. Click on the Performance tab 6. You will see a horizontal slide bar listed under application performance. If the marker is turned all the way on, reduce it to half (if this does not work, you may need to reduce it all the way to none). Then try to run your program again.

11.	How do I properly scale when importing a dwg/dxf? Architects and engineers rarely develop CAD drawings using a scale of 1 to 1. When importing drawings into a lighting software, such as Luxicon, the import scale has to be determined. When importing, select the appropriate Units under the AutoCAD section located below the drawing, typically Architectural. Import a drawing and check a known dimension to verify scale. If the drawing scale is not correct , set the Scale By to 1.00 Determine a known dimension. The drawing may be dimensioned or use a known measurement. Using the X and Y coordinates, located above the drawing, determine the measurement between points of a known distance. Consult with the engineer or architect if the drawing is not dimensioned or a known reference dimension cannot be determined. Developing a lighting layout using an incorrect scale will produce inaccurate results. Take the known dimension and divide by the distance measured using the X,Y coordinates. This will be your scale. For example, a US basketball court is 50 feet by 90 feet. If a CAD drawing is imported and the distance between the side boundary lines is measured at 13.9, you will divide 50 by 13.9. The calculated scale is 3.597, so you enter 3.597 into the Scale By box. Check a known measurement to confirm that the scale is correct.
